Prius Hybrid Cars

Honda Insights Hybrid Cars

Honda hybrid cars have three hybrid cars available in the United State market – with the addition of Honda Insights in 2011.

Honda Insights Hybrid, the newest of Honda hybrid cars, which was introduced in the fourth quarter, has been strong seller for the company in North America since the introduction of the car to consumers.

For fuel efficiency, the Honda has been the overall leading car in the U.S. car market for six years in a row.

Rating for the Insights was at 60/66 mpg for manual transmission Insight in 2005 – EPA fuel economy.

Given those fuel economy figures, Honda has expected the driving range of the Honda Insights hybrid about 600-700 miles on one 10.6-gallon tank of regular unleaded gas.

It boasts a top speed of 187 mph, with two electric engines and a .08 liter gasoline engine it has a delicious range of 1,200 miles! It lacksnothing in horsepower. throwing out 370 horses. All covered in a gorgeous candy-corn orange body. What’s really exciting for me about such endeavours is that concepts like these get the wealthier populations excited about full economy. They need not sacrifice style and sex appeal for better gas mileage. It’s my high hopes that other luxury auto makers make more aggressive efforts to greenify their fleets.




This hybrid car sport is a radical new 2 seater sports hybrid coupe from sport hybrid car featuring a parallel hybrid motor, futuristic interiors, and glass roof. Hybrid-Autos Technology

The Honda Insight is a hybrid electric vehicle. This car was manufactured by Honda and the first production vehicle to feature Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist system. Honda has been tightly guarding the details about its next hybrid, which the company is introducing next year.

With the electric motor attached to the engine’s crankshaft, the engine never stops turning when the car is moving, as it does in the Toyota and Ford hybrids, but it can shut off the fuel supply and valves, which has a similar effect. Also, the engine uses eight spark plugs to allow greater flexibility with the firing order for more complete combustion of fuel in the cylinder. Mazda Tribute Hybrid

Mazda Tribute comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 171 horsepower and 171 foot-pounds of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, with a six-speed automatic available too. The optional engine is a 3.0-liter V-6 producing 300 horsepower, which only comes with the six-speed automatic.

Tribute Hybrid model is fitted with a specially tuned version of the 2.5-liter four, mated to an electronically continuously variable transmission (eCVT) containing two electric motors that both power the car and recharge the battery pack, which sits by the rear axle. All Tribute models, including the hybrid, can be specified with either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Hydrogen Fuel: Honda FCX Clarity Sedan


Honda unveiled the FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show, and an announced that a limited number of southern Californians will have the opportunity to lease one next summer. This is the first time a customer can obtain a fuel cell car directly from a retail dealer. The company is also showing progress with the creation of a hydrogen home fueling station.

A lease on the Honda FCX Clarity will cost $600 per month, including service, maintenance, and collision insurance. The term on the lease will be three-years.

In terms of appearances, the futuristic four-door Clarity will closely resemble the FCX concept, aside from some minor front-end design modifications. The Clarity will be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell stack—running along the car’s center tunnel between the front seats—that generates electricity but produces zero exhaust emissions at the tailpipe. Functional improvements in the FCX Clarity over the previous concept model include a 20 percent increase in fuel economy, a 30 percent increase in vehicle range to 270 miles, and an advanced new lithium-ion battery pack that is 40 percent lighter and 50 percent smaller.

For a nearly a generation, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles have been championed as the long-term solution to auto emissions. Vehicles like the Honda FCX Clarity and the Chevrolet Equinox have brought that dream a little bit closer to reality. But the BMW Hydrogen 7 steers through the hydrogen highway in a different direction—because it isn’t a fuel-cell vehicle at all.

Instead of using hydrogen to generate electricity in a fuel cell, the BMW Hydrogen 7— essentially a 7 Series sedan—burns hydrogen in its conventional V-12 engine. And it can switch to straight gasoline at the driver’s whim. Think of it as a dual-fuel gasoline-hydrogen hybrid. A full tank of liquid hydrogen will grant a vehicle range of more than 125 miles. Add a full tank of gasoline for another 300 miles of interstate driving. Put those two together and the BMW Hydrogen 7 can drive about 450 miles on a full supply of fuel.

Whether using an engine or fuel cell, burning hydrogen produces only water vapor at the tailpipe. But the Hydrogen 7 faces a number of obstacles that fuel-cell vehicles—already challenged enough—don’t have to consider.
