LONGTERMER #2, Volume 11: Honda Civic FD2
LONGTERMER #2, Volume 11: Honda Civic FD2 2.0IVTEC
This is 11th update of Longtermer #2, this month's a busy month for the Civic 2.0iVTEC FD2. Clocked 1300+ km over 11 days fetching my Hongkie friend and his parents around, mostly city driving save 3 return trips to KLIA. Hence, my own car, the Telstar is "neglected" most of the month in May.
Went to Royal Selangor Club (Desmond's father is "Reciprocal Member" and Royal Lake Club (my Dad's member) almost everyday... Pictures below...
Another observation follow-up of Last month's 15,000km service. The Civic's very economical before the service (up to 12.75km/L, averaged 11.5km/L). Today, Best 11.8km/L, Worst 8.5km/l (though that's 100% driving around KL City).
The car hit the kerb 3 times. Twice @ under-side of the car (dented the rear right rim) and once at Pusat Bandar Damansara parking. Front right side of bumper deeply scratched.
Without further ado, let's proceed to LOGBOOK.
Year of manufactured: 2008 (Duh!)
Current Value: RM113,000
Purchase price: RM126,000 (less NCB)
Mileage when bought: 0008km
Mileage last month: 15069km.
Mileage NOW: 16804km
Average mileage per month: 1528km
FUEL CONSUMPTION (This Month):
Best: 11.8km/L (Shell V-power)
WORST: 8.5km/L (BHP) 100% City driving
LAST 6 months:
Best: 12.75km/l (90% highway driving) (November 2008)
Worst: 8.5km/l (100% City driving) (May 2009)
Expenses:
1) Petrol, parking and toll charges, that's all.
Here's parting shots before I sign off...
Did you Realise the Paintwork?
The colour is "Sparkle Grey Pearl". Hence, certain angle Grey, certain angle Dark Blue.
AN ORIGINAL JEFF LIM Production. That's all folks, thanks for having the patience to read this.

Longtermer #1, Update 11: Ford Telstar Ghia 2.0i4 16v
In this blog entry, I am updating my Ford Telstar i4 Ghia. This is the 11th update. What's up in the month of May?
On the first week of May, my Telstar broke down again. Suddenly, the engine shut down by itself. Can start, drove 200-300 metres then Engine died again. It happened 300metres away from my house. “Limped” the car slowly to my House.
This time I called AAM to tow (instead of AIA) to my Workshop. Upon inspection, it’s the Distributor which needed change. I left the car at the workshop for 2 days as my foreman cannot find the “Distributor”. New and original part was RM900++. In the end, he had to resort to a used unit (from Chop Shop) for RM370 (add another RM90 for workmanship..
As I typed this, the Telstar only done 130km +/-. Why?
It’s because my dad’s in Vietnam for 2 weeks, hence his Civic FD2 is driven by me. Without further ado, let's proceed to Logbook:
LOGBOOK:
Year of manufactured: December 1998 (registered January 1999)
Purchase price: RM42,000 (Aug 2005)
Current value: RM16,000 (As at January 2009)
Depreciation per year (averaged): RM6,500
Mileage last month: 143,550km
Mileage now: 143,678km
Fuel consumption (so far):
BEST: 9km/l (22 April 2009)
WORST: 5.9km/l (November 2008)
TODAY, As at 28 May,
Expenses (this month)
1) Petrol (RM30 only this month) and toll charges.
2) RM460 to change a Distributor
Before I go, here's a parting shot:
End of Update, thanks for having the patience to read it...

RON97 to cost more from September
By MAZWIN NIK ANIS
PUTRAJAYA: The RON97 petrol will be sold at RM2 per litre effective Sept 1, which is 20 sen more than its current selling price once the RON95 version is available nationwide.
The RON97 will be sold as a premium petrol product while RON92, the cheapest petrol currently available, will be removed from the market.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that RON95, to be sold at RM1.75, would be available to consumers in stages effective today and all petrol stations nationwide would sell the product by Sept 1.
“By Sept 1, RON97 will be the alternative petrol and a premium product. Instead, the RON95 petrol will be the choice petrol for consumers and rest assured, the product is of high quality and is good enough to be filled in even luxury and high-powered cars,” he told reporters after the soft launch of RON95 here yesterday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to launch the nationwide sale of the petrol in September.
Ismail Sabri said the decision to phase out RON92 would not affect consumers as statistics show that only 5% to 10% of vehicle owners use the petrol, adding that by paying only five sen more for a litre, consumers would get to enjoy better quality petrol.
He said that at RM1.75 per litre, the Government has to fork out three sen in subsidy for RON95 while a subsidy of six sen is paid for every litre of RON97, adding that it could not be determined yet if there would be revenue for the Government when RON97 is sold at RM2 as it depended on the global petrol price.
He said the Government, through his ministry, has implemented various programmes to help the public cushion the effect of an increase in the cost of living, including allocating RM812mil for projects such as distribution of essential goods including rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour and liquified petroleum gas.

CLASSIC: Mercedes 190 W110 "Fintail" @ Heckflosse @ "Batman"
While I was waiting for my car to be serviced, I chanced upon this Classic car at the Workshop. It's no other than Mercedes 190 W110 Fintail (As known in English speaking countries) @ Heckflosse (as known in Germany and Austria) @ "Batman" (as known in Asian countries).
This model was produced from 1961 to 1967. It's the 1st CAR to have Crumple zones and to be crash tested. It's also 1 of the 1st CAR to have FUEL INJECTION (high end model).
Well, apart from that, I struggled to find decent features, profiles and specifications for this Classic Mercedes W110 series. BUT I did took lots of photos of this car.
There's a saying, A picture's worth 1000 words, well here goes:
Picture 1: The LARGE Steering and dashboard. Note that the car is Air-conditioned and gear shift lever repositioned from Column to floor. Hey, it's "Automatic" transmission. I presumed the Engine and gearbox's changed.
Picture 2: The STEEL Rim cover. Trademark of Mercedes Benz
Picture 3: Rear view of the Classic car.
Picture 4: Side Profile
Picture 5: General view of the car...
Picture 6.
Picture 7: Rear view
Picture 8.
Picture 9...
That's all folks, thanks for having the time and patience to read this...
AN ORIGINAL JEFF LIM Production. Ie. Photos and write-up DIDN'T SOURCED from ANYONE and/or ANYWHERE.
