Saya, Jeff Lim ingin mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri kepada semua Umat Islam, Maaf, zahir dan batin. Be forgiving and be good, do good...
Saya juga ingin mengucapkan Selamat Ulangtahun Merdeka Ke 54. Satu Malaysia bukannya sekadar impian, "dari dahululah kita praktis 1 Malaysia". Saya ingat masa saya di dalam darjah satu hingga dua. Saya "Colour blind" masa itu. Saya ada Melayu, Cina, India dan Sikh Kawan.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY...
Happy Valentine's day to all subscribers and visitors to this OTOREVIEW Blog. I Jeff Lim, Owner and author of this blog is "STILL LOOKING FOR MY VALENTINE" (Ie. Single and Available).
So to me, every year today from Birth until 14 February 2011, Valentine's Day is "JUST ANOTHER DAY" HOPE Next Year is Different.
Anyway, here's a POEM to Celebrate this Occasion:

Dreading the dawn of tomorrow
For with the morning will come my downfall
A romantic day only filled with boredom…
Wanting someone to be with
On this year’s Valentine’s Day
Someone to hold me and sing me a song
As we dance the night away
Someone to kiss me gently
Underneath the star filled sky
Her beautiful lips, so soft and pink
She’d be an all rounded girl
Yet I know that I’ll be spending Valentine’s alone
Maybe next year things will change

Selamat Hari Raya Haji... What's it about? Read on...
Selamat Hari Raya Haji atau Hari Raya Aidil-Adha kepada semua Umat Islam/Islamah. What's it about? I wondered...
After some research (Google), here's the BACKGROUND of this SPECIAL OCCASION:

According to Islamic tradition, approximately four thousand years ago, the valley of Mecca (in what is now Saudi Arabia) was a dry, rocky and uninhabited place. Abraham ('Ibraheem in Arabic) was instructed to bring his Egyptian wife Hagar (Hāǧar) and Ishmael, his only child at the time (Ismā'īl), to Arabia from the land of Canaan (in Palestine as well as parts of Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Sinai) by God's command.
As Abraham was ready to return to Canaan, Hagar asked him, "Did Allah (God) order you to leave us here?" When Abraham replied: "Yes, I was directed by Allah (God)," Hagar said, "Then Allah will not forget us; you can go". Although Abraham had left a large quantity of food and water with Hagar and Ishmael, the supplies quickly ran out, and within a few days the two began to feel the pangs of hunger and dehydration.
Hagar ran up and down between two hills called Al-Safa and Al-Marwah seven times, in her desperate quest for water. Exhausted, she finally collapsed beside her baby Ishmael and prayed to God for deliverance. Miraculously, a spring of water gushed forth from the earth at the feet of baby Ishmael. Other accounts have the angel Gabriel (Jibril) striking the earth and causing the spring to flow in abundance. With this secure water supply, known as the Zamzam Well, they were not only able to provide for their own needs, but were also able to trade water with passing nomads for food and supplies.
Years later, Abraham was instructed by God to return from Palestine to build a place of worship adjacent to Hagar's well (the Zamzam Well). Abraham and Ishmael constructed a stone and mortar structure —known as the Kaaba— which was to be the gathering place for all who wished to strengthen their faith in God. As the years passed, Ishmael was blessed with Prophethood (Nubuwwah) and gave the nomads of the desert his message of submission to God. After many centuries, Mecca became a thriving desert city and a major center for trade, thanks to its reliable water source, the well of Zamzam.
One of the main trials of Abraham's life was to face the command of God to devote his dearest possession, his only son. Upon hearing this command, he prepared to submit to God's will. During this preparation, Satan (Shaitan) tempted Abraham and his family by trying to dissuade them from carrying out God's commandment, and Ibrahim and Ishmael drove Satan away by throwing pebbles at him. In commemoration of their rejection of Satan, stones are thrown at symbolic pillars signifying Satan during the Hajj rites.
When Ishmael was about 13 (Ibrahim being 99), Allah (God) decided to test their faith in and submission to Allah in public. Both father and son were put through the most difficult test of their love for Allah. Abraham had a recurring dream, in which God was commanding him to offer his son as a sacrifice – an unimaginable act – sacrificing his son, which God had granted him after many years of deep prayer, the one who had been the centre of his affection and love for all these years. Abraham knew that the dreams of the prophets were inspired by Allah, and one of the ways in which God communicated with his prophets. This must be what Allah had wanted him to do. When the intent of the dreams became clear to him, Abraham decided to fulfil God's command and offer his beloved son in sacrifice.
Although Abraham was ready to sacrifice his dearest for Allah’s sake, he could not just go and drag his son to the place of sacrifice without his consent. Isma'el had to be consulted as to whether he was willing to give up his life as fulfillment to God's command. This consultation would be a major test of Isma'el’s maturity in faith, love and commitment for Allah, willingness to obey his father and sacrifice his own life for the sake of Allah.
Abraham presented the matter to his son and asked for his opinion about the dreams of slaughtering him. Ishmael’s reaction was absolutely astounding. He did not show any hesitation or reservation even for a moment. He said, “Father, do what you have been commanded. You will find me, Insha'Allah (God willing), to be very patient.” His mature response, his deep insight into the nature of dad’s dreams, his commitment to Allah, and ultimately his willingness to sacrifice his own life for the sake of Allah were all unprecedented.
When both father and son had shown their perfect obedience to Allah and they had practically demonstrated their willingness to sacrifice their most precious possessions for His sake—Abraham by laying down his son for sacrifice and Ishmael by lying patiently under the knife – Allah called out to them stating that his sincere intentions had been accepted, and that he need not carry out the killing of Ishmael. Instead, Abraham was told to replace his son with a ram to sacrifice instead. Allah also told them that they had passed the test imposed upon them by his willingness to carry out God's command.
This is mentioned in the Qur'an as follows:
"O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. And when (his son) was old enough to walk and work with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I see in vision that I offer you in sacrifice: Now see what is your view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do what you are commanded; if Allah wills, you will find me one practising patience and steadfastness!" So when they both submitted and he threw him down upon his forehead, We called out to him saying: O Ibraheem! You have indeed fulfilled the vision; surely thus do We reward those who do good. Most surely this was a manifest trial. And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice. And We perpetuated (praise) to him among the later generations. "Peace and salutation to Abraham!"
Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. Surely he was one of Our believing servants.[11]
As a reward for this sacrifice, Allah then granted Abraham the good news of the birth of his second son, Is-haaq (Isaac):
And We gave him the good news of Is-haaq, a prophet from among the righteous.
Abraham had shown that his love for his god superseded all others: that he would lay down his own life or the lives of those dearest to him in submission to God's command. Muslims commemorate this ultimate act of sacrifice every year during Eid al-Adha.

Happy 53rd anniversary MERDEKA Malaysia! BUT...
Happy 53rd anniversary or Independence Malaysia. BUT it's a MOURNING day as well for me. Well, it's the 13th Memorial Anniversary of my "FORMER IDOL" Princess Diana (or rather Lady Diana) and Dodi Al Fayed. They were killed at a High speed crash in the Famous Paris tunnel on 31st August 1997.
Anyway, let's not dampen the Merdeka Spirit. I'll try my best to put the sad news behind by presenting you, readers this WELL WRITTEN song sang by the Late Sudirman.

DINNER: Me and my sister ordered Dominos Pizza for my Mum and Grandma... Along with 2 types of Noodles (TAAI CHAU)... Maan Yee Mee and Hor Fun...

Merry Christmas EVERYONE!!!

How you spend your Christmas this year?
Well, I spent the Christmas EVE in my Friend's house, Carolling, Buffet dinner, rubbing shoulders (50+ people)... This lasted for about 90 mins. I then headed to TESCO Mutiara Damansara with my Best friend, doing LAST LAST LAST MINUTE Shopping. We shop till' it closes. Left TESCO at 12.15am, stuck in the jam (7km drive) for 20 minutes before reaching home.
Today, (Christmas day), from 10am to 2pm I was in Jalan Ipoh. My Church rented this complex (Dewan Mutiara) for Sunday Service + Buffet Lunch. I enjoyed myself there with various programs happened. After that, I spent a good 2 1/2 hrs sleeping in the Sofa before being woken up for Dinner.

How you spend your Christmas this year?
Well, I spent the Christmas EVE in my Friend's house, Carolling, Buffet dinner, rubbing shoulders (50+ people)... This lasted for about 90 mins. I then headed to TESCO Mutiara Damansara with my Best friend, doing LAST LAST LAST MINUTE Shopping. We shop till' it closes. Left TESCO at 12.15am, stuck in the jam (7km drive) for 20 minutes before reaching home.
Today, (Christmas day), from 10am to 2pm I was in Jalan Ipoh. My Church rented this complex (Dewan Mutiara) for Sunday Service + Buffet Lunch. I enjoyed myself there with various programs happened. After that, I spent a good 2 1/2 hrs sleeping in the Sofa before being woken up for Dinner.

Happy FATHER'S DAY...
Happy Father's day EVERYONE! Tomorrow (Sunday) is Father's day. Any gift/s and/or plans to celebrate with your father? OR Should I say what would you do with your father?
Brief description of my dad: He's 168cm, Middle weight, Almost bald, 60 years old guy. He loves Golf. He is an ambidextrous (ie. use of both hands especially writing and playing racket games) Oh! He loves Curry fish head, "Teochew Lor Duck meat", Nasi Lemak etc...
He retired from a prominent Bank in Hong Kong back in 2001 after 28 LONG years working for the Bank (22 years in KL HQ and 6 years in Hong Kong). He is still active in the workforce today working as a Consultant to a Bank in Vietnam, Director to a Bank in China and recently, Director of a Subsidiary of a Malaysian bank.
Well, my dad went to Cambodia for Business Trip today (Airasia). So in other words, he won't be with us (the Lim's family) for this father's day.
Q: What I'm going to do tomorrow?
A: Wash his car lor...
WIthout further ado, here's a photo of my father:

Let us proceed to the "Origin of Father's day":
HISTORY of Father's Day
The idea for an official Father’s Day celebration came to a married daughter, seated in a church in Spokane, Washington, attentive to a Sunday sermon on Mother’s Day in 1910-two years after the first Mother’s Day observance in West Virginia.
The daughter was Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd. During the sermon, which extolled maternal sacrifices made for children, Mrs. Dodd realized that in her own family it had been her father, William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran, who had sacrificed-raising herself and five sons alone, following the early death of his wife in childbirth. For Mrs. Dodd, the hardships her father had endured on their eastern Washington farm called to mind the unsung feats of fathers everywhere.
Her proposed local Father’s Day celebration received strong support from the town’s ministers and members of the Spokane YMCA. The date suggested for the festivities, June 5, Mrs. Dodd’s father’s birthdays were three weeks away-had to be moved back to the nineteenth when ministers claimed they need extra time to prepare sermons on such a new subject as Father.
Newspapers across the country, already endorsing the need for a national Mother’s Day, carried stories about the unique Spokane observance. Interest in Father’s Day increased. Among the first notables to support Mrs. Dodd’s idea nationally was the orator and political leader William Jennings Bryan, who also backed Mother’s Day. Believing that fathers must not be slighted, he wrote to Mrs. Dodd, "too much emphasis cannot be placed upon the relation between parent and child."
Father’s Day, however, was not so quickly accepted as Mother’s Day. Members of the all-male Congress felt that a move to proclaim the day official might be interpreted as a self-congratulatory pat on the back.
In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson and his family personally observed the day. And in 1924, President Calvin Coolidge recommended that states, if they wished, should hold their own Father’s Day observances. He wrote to the nation’s governors that "the widespread observance of this occasion is calculated to establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children, and also to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations."
Many people attempted to secure official recognition for Father’s Day. One of the most notable efforts was made in 1957, by Senator Margaret Chase Smith, who wrote forcefully to Congress that "Either we honor both our parents, mother and father, or let us desist from honoring either one. But to single out just one of our two parents and omit the other is the most grievous insult imaginable."
Eventually, in 1972-sixty-two years after it was proposed-Father’s Day was permanently established by President Richard Nixon.
In America today, Father’s Day is the fifth-largest card-sending occasion, with about 85 million greeting cards exchanged.
