Here's my review:

It's been 10000km since my dad Changed the front tyres into Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (PS3).  Previously, the Civic FD2's came FACTORY FITTED with Michelin Pilot Preceda 1.  The latter's a very NOISY tyre, so-so at wet handling and very good in Dry Handling.  The wear's even. Comfort: a bit bumpy at times.

Now for the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (PS3), the tyre is MUCH MUCH Quieter, the Wet Grip's EXCELLENT, The Dry Handling is also EXCELLENT.  Again, the wear's even.  High speed stability's excellent.  Comfort EXCELLENT, note that the Civic FD2's running on low profile 215/45R17.

Would I recommend this tyre.  A RESOUNDING YES!  It's voted the BEST TYRE in Autoworld forum and is the most Active thread @ 1496 posts and counting.  I dare to say it's ON PAR with the more expensive Toyo T1R.

Before I go, here's a parting video from Autocar India.

NEWS: Toyo Tires buys Silverstone

The Star Motoring: Fri, Oct 22, 2010 at 11:59 am

Toyo Tires buys Silverstone

KUALA LUMPUR: Lion Forest Industries Bhd, owned by Lion Group, is selling its local tyre manufacturer Silverstone Bhd for RM462mil to Japan’s Toyo Tire & Rubber Co Ltd.

In the deal that is expected to be completed by January next year, Lion Forest looks to realise and unlock the value in Silverstone and make a gain of RM140mil from the sale.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Lion Forest said its subsidiary Silverstone Corp Bhd was looking to dispose of its entire stake, or 203.88 million shares of RM1 each in Silverstone. Silverstone has a paid-up capital of RM203.88mil.

Toyo Tire, which operates in over 100 countries, is involved in the sales and manufacturing of automobile tyres, industrial rubber, soft and rigid polyurethane products, and automotive anti-vibration rubber. Listed on the Osaka, Tokyo and Nagoya stock exchanges, the company has a market capitalisation of RM1.6bil as at Oct 21, 2010.

This will be Toyo Tire’s first cross-border acquisition as it seeks to make a full-scale entry into the fast-growing South East Asia market.

Toyo Tire, which is said to be the fourth largest tyre manufacturer in Japan, plans to commence production of Toyo and Nitto brand tyres in Silverstone as soon as practicable, while using Malaysia as its export distribution hub for Asia.

Toyo said it aimed to further improve the quality of the Silverstone brand tyre, with the goal of expanding sales throughout Asia.

Silverstone, which has a diversified motor vehicle tyre portfolio, exports to more than 60 countries from South America to the Baltic countries, throughout Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Middle East. Its annual production capacity in Malaysia is 3 million units.

END OF ARTICLE.  That's all folks, thanks for having the time and patience to read this blog entry.

[WTB] 15" Steel rims PCD114.3, 5 holes +

HI readers, I am looking for Steel 15" rims PCD114.3, 5 holes. Preferably with 195/60R15 tyres (up to RM300 extra depending on tyres condition). Willing to pay up to RM200 for the rim itself + plastic caps if possible (depending on Condition of the rims). (UP to RM180 W/o the plastic caps).

TOTAL with rims & 195/60R15 tyres. RM300+180to 200 = RM480-500.

This is REASONABLE offer, I would say Slightly better than TAYAR SHOP trade in based on my survey in various tayar shop.

Lists of example Rims I'm looking for (not in particular order):

1) Kia Forte 1.6EX Steel rims + Cover (PCD114.3, 5 holes) - WILL Buy with tayar)
2) Proton EXORA 1.6 Steel rims + cover (PCD114.3, 5 holes) - W/o tayar
3) Toyota Estima Steel rims + Cover (15" PCD114.3, 5 holes) - W/o tayar
4) Ford Steel Rims + Cover. (eg. Telstar, Lynx). Most Logical as I'm driving a Ford Telstar. - With tayar.
5) Mitsubishi JDM 15" Steel Rims (5 holes, PCD114.3)  w/o tayar...

Will pay slightly higher if it's 1) and 2) coz these rims are taken from a NEW car.

Do you get the idea what I'm looking for now based on the above examples?

Thanks in Advance...
