For the past few weeks after the evaporator was replaced, the air conditioning has been putting a heavy load on the engine whenever the compressor turns on. The receiver dryer probably is too old and saturated with moisture, so the compressor is having a hard time compressing the gas. In order to avoid killing the compressor, it is a good idea to replace it.

The receiver dryer is located in front of the power steering pump.
To remove it, the best access is from under the car.
