The Dodge Charger

My favorite non-GM muscle car might just be the Dodge Charger. I'm a bit of a Mustang fan too, but I like the Charger mainly because it was just so big and loud. It also looked good. A true muscle car.

1969 Dodge Challenger
The Charger was a favorite amongst the Dodge boys for good reason, so back in 2006, when Dodge began producing the Charger for the first time since 1978, they were very excited.

The 2006 Charger became known as one of the best sport sedans/muscle cars on the market, but in 2008 the (now discontinued) Pontiac G8 came out followed in 2010 by the Ford Taurus.

With stiffer competition, Dodge needs to improve the Charger. The brand new 2011 model will be hitting showrooms very soon, and from the pictures Dodge has released, it looks like they've done a great job building a car that will rival the best of the best.

Will this be the car to put Dodge on top of the American performance sedan world? We'll see.

Extra:
If you've got 10 spare minutes, here's a good way to spend them. It's the iconic chase scene from Steve McQueen's Bullitt featuring a Ford Mustang and a Dodge Charger speeding through the streets of San Fransisco.

Cool Fact: While filming the jumps for this scene, the Mustang's suspension kept falling apart, but the Dodge's was fine.
